Kyneton Fine China was established in 1983 in Kyneton, Victoria, Australia upon the arrival from England of Peter and Rita Daniel.

They had been creating bone china flowers in their company "Severnvale Porcelain" situated in Malvern, Worcestershire.

Peter had originally trained as an electrical engineer in Worcester and met Rita when she joined "Royal Worcester China Works" at the age of 16. She trained there in the traditional techniques of fine china production including design, painting, gilding and flower making. Royal Worcester recognised her talent, and for several years Rita worked in the design department and as Head of the Women’s Enamelling and Freehand Painting Department.

When the American company "Boehm" opened an English Studio, their aim was to recruit a nucleus of the best artists in Britain. Rita became Principal Painter with "Edward Marshall Boehm".

"Royal Doulton" specially commissioned Rita to paint individual works of art on flat bone china plaques, and chose to use their "Minton" trademark.

Upon their arrival in Australia, Rita and Peter were captivated by the unique beauty of the flora and fauna and created a range of figurines using Australian porcelain naming it "Kyneton Fine China" after the town in which it was situated. These quickly established a niche in the Australian market, catering for discerning collectors and tourists. Many have been used as gifts to foreign dignitaries and Governments and are to be found in some of the most prestigious museums in the world.

After some years, to make their work available to a wider public, Rita and Peter developed a new method of manufacture using a resin-ceramic mix and flexible silicon moulds, naming the range "Wattle Ceramics". Much of Rita’s time is devoted to expanding the range of "Wattle Ceramics" pieces which are dispatched to many destinations in Australia and overseas.

Rita continues to have a love of the traditional china making techniques and whenever time can be found, either hand paints or flower-makes special bone china Kyneton Fine China pieces in very limited quantities which in consequence are only available from the studio.
